About us
Heal The Hauraki is a movement brought to life by a team of passionate experts, story-tellers & professional change-makers.

Stories empower, inspire and connect us.
The first seed of Heal The Hauraki was planted in Mandy Kupenga's mind over a decade ago.
Alongside her creative partner, Cassie Roma, this series aims to not only give every Kiwi activities and ideas to do their share to raise the mauri of te taiao, but to help connect all of us in healing ways.

We are driven by the belief that healing Te Taiao and connecting with the world around us also connects us to each other and ourselves.
Through mātauranga Māori, kaitiakitanga, manaakitanga, and aroha for our ecosystems, we believe good change can and will happen.
We are committed to telling stories, building communities and creating movements that inspire generations of Kiwis to take action to care for our precious world.

Values of Heal The Hauraki
We are what we value. Heal The Hauraki is about love, healing, and bringing communities together to not only heal the natural world, but ourselves in the process.

Mātauranga
Mātauranga is the knowledge, comprehension, and understanding of everything tangible and intangible. It's a worldview and a way of interpreting who we are. Based on centuries of cumulative cultural and scientific wisdom, mātauranga is at the heart of Heal The Hauraki.

Aroha in action
Aroha (love) is a verb. It is an action word. Because of this, Heal The Hauraki, is about hope and solutions that matter at scale and locally. At the center of aroha in action is connection. Connection to each other, our past, and our futures.

Hikoi te kōrero
Walk the talk. To change things for the better means we must DO. We must act with love and generosity to ensure the planet and our future generations thrive. Walking the talk is the only way to go moving forward - join us on the journey!
