Planting Seeds Of Hope

Every tree tells a story. Every seed is a seed of hope and healing. Trees not only nourish us and the environment by producing life-sustaining oxygen, cooling shade, and being home to native fauna - they are also the stewards of time.

Growing little by little, offering us all a beautiful reminder of the power of nurturing te taiao over time. We had the pleasure of joining te taiao prctitioner Charmaine Bailie and over one hundred volunteers on a cold, rainy planting day on Motutapu Island.

And, not only did we plant thousands of trees, connecting with the whenua, we connected with each other. Connection is a potent force for healing!

From The Shadows To The Light

When it comes to planting, most of us think about planting outwards. But, it's thinking upwards that matters. All forests need different kinds of trees.

Different heights. Different needs. Different lifespans.

Trees that play roles to help balance the ecosystem and encourage biodiversity to thrive.

The tallest trees needed shadows to grow strong.

Like us, they need to push through the dark to find the light. Playing a 100, 600, or 1000 year "game" when it comes to planting is a beautiful reminder that what we do today resonates tomorrow.

Kaitiakitanga at the core.

Aroha in action.

Connection.

That's what planting days are.
